John Paulitious

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

John Paulitious was Edinburgh's first plague doctor. He died in June 1645 after only brief employment, presumably of the plague. His successor, George Rae, was promised a huge sum of money for the position, as it was expected that he, too, would die before he could collect; however, Rae survived, and spent ten years attempting to collect his promised dues.
