John McHugh (musician)

John McHugh is an Irish musician, who has played with many famous Irish acts including Hugo Duncan and Richie Kavanagh,[citation needed] he is rated as the third best keyboardist in Ireland and is respected all over the country as a guitarist, accordionist, bassist and trumpeter.[citation needed]

John McHugh was born 28th February 1957 In Strabane, to Nellie McHugh, and John McHugh Sr. At an early age he had an interest in music; a story going about was when he was five years old his father had bought him a piano and his mother would not let him on it out of fear he would damage it, he cried until he got his way and she finally gave in, he was watching live footage of a local band, and when he got on the piano he started playing the song that he was listening to at that moment.

In the beginning McHugh began playing the piano and singing in local pubs at 10 years old and began playing with local show bands at the age of 17 and developed his musical ability quickly and was starting to build a reputation for himself, although during this time he developed an alcohol problem which took its toll on him over time.

McHugh has been married twice and is engaged again. He has two sons, Michael and Adam with his second wife Patricia.
