John Lionel Beckwith

John Lionel Beckwith (b. 19 March 1947) is a British business tycoon. He has been on the Sunday Times richest individuals list for serveral years, and in 2007 was 195th in the list with assets of over GBP 400 million. In 1996, Beckwith was knighted, receiving the Commander Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his service to youth sports.

Beckwith was educated at Harrow School. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Anderson & Co from 1969 to 1971. In 1971, together with his brother Peter, he established the London and Edinburgh Trust PLC which soon became one of the United Kingdom's top ten real estate companies. Beckwith served as chairman until 1993. In addition, in 1986, Mr Beckwith founded Rutland Trust PLC, a diversified corporate finance, venture capital and insurance broking group, where he served as chairman until 1991. In 1993, Beckwith founded a private investment company called Pacific Investments PLC.
