John Crowley (director)

John Crowley (born 1969) is an Irish BAFTA-winning television director theatre and film director who has received critical acclaim in both mediums and has had huge success on both sides of the Atlantic with his theatre work.[citation needed]

He has a degree in philosophy from University College Cork.

Crowley is a former associate director at the Donmar Warehouse Theatre in London. In May 2005 Crowley, along with Danny Boyle, launched the UK Film Council Development Fund's “25 Words or Less: Director’s Cut” scheme to develop a feature film project. Crowley particularly wants to " create a contemporary ‘rebirth’ or transformation story about a man or woman who begins as someone that spreads coldness"[1].

  • He won the Audience award Best first feature film at the Galway Film Fleadh for Intermission in 2003.
  • He won the first IFTA Award for Best Irish director for the film Intermission in 2003.
