John C. Eastman

John C. Eastman is the Dean of Chapman University School of Law in Orange, California. He is also the Director of the Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence, a public interest law firm affiliated with the Claremont Institute for the Study of Statesmanship and Political Philosophy.
Before joining the Chapman Law faculty, he served as a law clerk with Justice Clarence Thomas at the Supreme Court of the United States. After clerking for Justice Thomas, John C. Eastman practiced with the law firm Kirkland & Ellis, specializing in civil and constitutional litigation.
He earned his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 1995. He also has a Ph.D. in Government from the Claremont Graduate School. He earned his B.A. in Politics and Economics from the University of Dallas.
Before law school, he served as the Director of Congressional and Public Affairs at the United States Commission on Civil Rights during the Reagan administration. He was also the 1990 Republican nominee for United States Congress in the 34th District of California.
