John Barrett (Colonel)

John Barrett (d. 1693) was a colonel and head of the barony of the Cork Barrett family.

Col. Barrett is noted for raising a regiment of infantry for King James army in Ireland. In 1691 the Williamite confiscation deprived Barrett, the head of the family at that time, of 12,000 acres (49 km²). He was killed in the French service at the Battle of Landen in 1693. [1]
