John A. D. Cooper

Dr. John A. D. Cooper, MD, PhD was president of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) from 1969-86, and was instrumental in shaping national policy on medical education. He was named by U.S. News and World Report as one of the five most influential people in medical and health education. Prior to becoming the AAMC's first full-time president, Dr. Cooper served as Northwestern University's dean of sciences. He was also a graduate of Northwestern University Medical School in 1951.
