[edit] Summary

This is a copy of the pedigree that was created in 1617 and now is held at the Genealogical Office in Dublin, under the unregistered 'Milesian pedigrees' section. This pedigree shows the transfer of property of Ballykilty from Mahowne McEnerhyny (Mahon McInerney) to his eldest son, John, on the death of Mahowne in 1617. Mahowne was the head of the McInerney - clann an Oirchinnigh - of County Clare and he was invovoled in a protracted land dispute with a junior branch of the family over the control of ancestral lands during the 1560s and 1570s. I would seem probable that Mahowne was successful in regaining the leadership of the clan and control over the McInerney lands of Ballykilty, Ballysallagh and Carrigoran, through ousting the junior branch of the family and being supported under Common Law, rather than Irish Brehon law. For further information about the origins and history of the McInerney family and Mahowne's struggle for control over the clan lands please see the McInerney page on wikipedia.

This pedigree is current lodged at the Genealogical Office in Dublin under the 'unregistered Milesian Pedigrees' archive. The author of the pedigree is unknown but it is thought to date from 1617, the time of Mahowne McEnerhyny's death.
