[edit] Album Credits

The early Jefferson Airplane albums (along with many early rock albums) did not have complete credits. Here's what is not credited on the albums themselves:

Jefferson Airplane Takes Off Uncredited:

  • Marty Balin - Guitar
  • Paul Kantner - Lead Vocals on "Run Around"
  • Signe Anderson - Percussion

Surrealistic Pillow Uncredited:

  • Jerry Garcia - Guitar possibly on "Comin' Back to Me" -- this credit is from Flight Log but Rick Jarrard, who produced the album, denies that Garcia ever worked on it.

After Bathing at Baxter's
There are no credits on this album! We know Spencer did the horns on reJoyce from the Jeff Tamarakin book. Uncredited:

  • Grace Slick - Piano / Organ / Recorder / Vocals
  • Paul Kantner - Rhythm Guitar / Vocals
  • Jorma Kaukonen - Lead Guitar / Vocals
  • Jack Casady - Bass
  • Spencer Dryden - Drums / Percussion / Horns
  • Marty Balin - Guitar / Vocals

Crown of Creation
The first with a lyrics insert. All the credits appear to be on this album. I don't know what an Electric Chicken is, or if ∞ refers to Spencer or all the members or someone else.
Bless Its Pointed Little Head
There are no credits in this album either. Uncredited:

  • Marty Balin: Vocals / Bass
  • Jack Casady: Bass / Rhythm Guitar
  • Spencer Dryden: Drums / Percussion
  • Paul Kantner: Rhythm Guitar / Vocals
  • Jorma Kaukonen: Lead Guitar / Vocals
  • Grace Slick: Vocals

Volunteers There are credits on this album, but some are missing:

  • Marty Balin: Guitar on "Volunteers"
  • Paul Kantner: Piano on "The Farm" / Rhythm Guitar
  • Jorma Kaukonen: Vocals

Bark

  • Will Scarlett: Harmonica on "Third Week in the Chelsea"

[edit] Fulton Street

This is my box combining Jefferson Airplane / Jefferson Starship / Starship / Hot Tuna because they were run by the same management for their existence and had the same contract with RCA, so I thought it would be neat to see all the albums side-by-side. I have now acquired a copy of 'Barbeque King' and see that Kaukonen was still using Fulton Street at the time (credited on that album: Bill Thompson, Jacky Kaukonen, Lora Lovrien). The compilation albums I included are the ones directly created by Bill Thompson & Co. (Pat Ieraci for some). All the other compilations were created by the record company directly, so I'm not including those.

[edit] Non-Fulton Street but Airplane Related

This one has the Airplane related projects that weren't on RCA or managed by Bill Thompson. I added the list of Soundboard albums that Jefferson Starship - TNG did after their last major release (Across the Sea of Suns). This does not include any solo albums.

[edit] Grunt Records

This one is the albums that weren't by Jefferson Airplane members, but were released by their record label (or in the case of Covington, an Airplane member that had left and then did a solo album on the Airplane label)

[edit] Airplane Members Solo

Separate solo albums. Not managed by Bill Thompson, but Airplane members. Grace and Jorma both had solo albums on RCA, but the others were different record companies. Grace Slick's albums could possibly have been covered by Fulton Street (Skip Johnson was her manager, and he did work for Jefferson Starship). Jorma also might have been managed by Bill Thompson up to his first Relix releases (Magic and Too Hot to Handle) but I don't have copies of those yet to check.

[edit] Starship Members Solo

This one is the Starship members who weren't in the Airplane's solo discographies. Not counting Mickey Thomas's first album, since it was done before he was a member of Starship.
