[edit] GA nomination
This article reads quite well and meets most of the GA criteria. However, POV is an issue, and I would suggest avoiding phrases such as "born into a sports-gifted family" and "Joel was blessed with raw athletic gifts", as they almost makes Selwood sound super-human. Any criticisms and low-points of Selwood's career should be fully discussed. Also, the image needs a fair-use rationale; please see Wikipedia:Use rationale examples.
I'm putting this article on hold as it is close to GA status. However, the issues noted above must be dealt with before GA status can be awarded. I hope this can be addressed within the seven days allowed by on hold, and wish you all the best with your editing. -- Johnfos 03:47, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for taking the time to review my nomination for the article.
Just on your comments:
"I would suggest avoiding phrases such as "born into a sports-gifted family" and "Joel was blessed with raw athletic gifts", as they almost makes Selwood sound super-human" - I've added additional reasoning or backing comments for the first 'sports-gifted' remark. The second remark has also been slightly edited, although my point really is that Joel is widely seen as having athletic gifts to go with his footballing ability, as opposed to his brothers, who many have noted get by on pure ability (ie they are not remarkably quick or pacey etc). The referenced article following addresses/backs this.
"Any criticisms and low-points of Selwood's career should be fully discussed" - I believe this was addressed in the issue of his knee injury, which, to date, remains the low point of his career as it led to him 'sliding down prospective draft lists', as noted. Also, his demotion for 4 games during the season would be considered a low point (also noted), although I don't believe the reasoning behind his demotions all those times is available). It is early days in his career to date, but to as of now, no major public criticism has been noted.
"Also, the image needs a fair-use rationale; please see Wikipedia:Use rationale examples." - Done
