Joel McNulty

Joel McNulty was one of the great hurdlers of the early 1950's. An all-around athlete, Joel participated in football and track for his high school. His sprinting ability gained him a scholarship to the University of Illinois. There he excelled in the 120y and 220y hurdles along with good friend Willard Thomson. He posted time in the 120 yard hurdles with 14.4 seconds in 1952. That same year in 1952 and 1953 he led the competition in the 220 yard hurdles with times of 24.8 seconds.

Joel later went on to practice law for Standard Insurance in Portland, Oregon. Joel is retired and participates in road cycling and woodworking. He is married to his wife, Wilma. They have two daughters and a son along with two grandsons and two granddaughters.
