Joel Kitamirike (born 5 April 1984 in Kampala, Uganda) is a football player. He holds a British passport.
He was rejected in an attempt to play for Uganda a few days he was due to make his debut before the game against DR Congo on 6 June 2004. His application was originally passed by FIFA, but Kitamirike have to give up his British passport in order to receive a Ugandan one to play, as Uganda did not allow dual nationality.[1]
He made one appearance for Chelsea, deputising in a UEFA Cup tie against Hapoel Tel Aviv, when several players refused to travel to Israel because of the security threat. He was released in 2004, and has since dropped into the lower divisions. He joined Weymouth for pre-season training at the start of the 2007-08 season, signed for them on non-contract terms in mid-August[2], and played his first game for them on August 23. He was later released by Weymouth and signed for Chelmsford City.
