My understanding was that he began rolling up his sleeves after his linemen were doing it, not the other way round. I should dig out the biography 'McMahon!' as I'm sure it's in there.

And is there a citation for the story about him wearing a Bears top to the White House celebration of the Packers' Superbowl win. I'd love to believe that was true, but wouldn't his teammates lynch him?
