Jimmy Tarbuck OBE is an English comedian, and the father of actress and television presenter Liza Tarbuck. He attended the same school as Beatle, John Lennon and newscaster Peter Sissons.
His first television show was It's Tarbuck 65! on ITV in 1964.[1] He has also hosted numerous quiz shows, including Winner Takes All, Full Swing, and Tarby's Frame Game. He was the last original host of Sunday Night at the London Palladium from 1965.
His numberplate is COM 1C on his Fiat Punto, as recently revealed by his daughter Liza on BBC Radio 2.
On 14 September 2007, on Radio 2, Liza also said that Jimmy once played football for East Fife F.C.. Even he said he was rubbish, just like every other footballer in the world, and had to hang up his boots.
In the 1980s, he hosted similar Sunday night variety shows, Live From Her Majesty's, Live from the Piccadilly and finally Live from the Palladium, which were produced by London Weekend Television for ITV. Nicknamed Tarby, at the height of his celebrity he was a prominent supporter of Margaret Thatcher and her policies. He was appearing on the fourth series of BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing in 2006, but he was forced to pull out on medical advice.[2]
