[edit] Story

It all started when summer break began. Naoto Jinno (Jinno Naoto) and Rika Manabe (Manabe Rika) confessed their love they had for each other since their childhood and began dating. Suddenly a boy named Asmo appeared. He declared he was a devil and attempted to kidnap Rika. Naoto did his best to save Rika, but he couldn’t defend against the devil’s power. At that very moment, a girl named Luvriel, who said she was an angel, came and saved them. Luvriel was injured in the battle against the devil and was brought to safety. Luvriel then told them the facts behind the incident; the angels in Heaven and the devils in Hell have been fighting for a long time. She also informs them that the devil would return for another attack. Because Luvriel had lost her power during the fight, she requested Rika to fight as a replacement. The devil had also lost his power in the fight. He then met up with Meimi Otonashi (Otonashi Meimi), a classmate of Naoto's, happened to come and see Naoto confess his love to Rika. This made Meimi jealous of Rika. Taking advantage of her jealousy, Asmodeus haunted her. He turned Meimi into an evil heroine, Misty May, and made her attack Rika again. Meanwhile, Luvriel turned Rika into "St. Jibril" (Jiburiru) and let her fight against the forces of evil, eventually destroying Asmodeus.

After the first series ends, the story continues. New characters including Hikari Jinno (Jinno Hikari), Naoto's little sister and Rococo, Asmo's sister appear in the new series. Within the series, Rika gets kidnapped by Misty May by using her monster to attack Rika. After the kidnapping, Naoto becomes upset that Rika was taken away. Similar to Rika's fate in the first series, Luvriel gets Hikari to become a Devil Angel. However, for this to occur, Naoto must make love with his sister. Initially, Naoto is shocked and refuses to commit such an act, but soon changes his mind when Hikari offers herself in order to save Rika. As they have sex, Hikari transforms into Jibiriru Aries and fights the forces of evil... including Dark Jibril, the converted form of Rika Manabe!

This peace is short-lived, with a strange new photography student taking pornographic pictures of some of the students, something connected to the return of Misty May. When a more powerful monster than they've ever faced before attacks them, Hikari Jinno is abducted, and the New Angelic Gaia Interface is activated, in the form of a blue-haired virtual girl named Nagi... Can the N.A.G.I rescue Hikari... or is it too late already?

When Luvriel was defeated, Naoto and Rika help her to take her back into his room. As they realize that Luvriel was really an Angel, she told stories the facts behind the incident. Rika wanted to be an Angel just like Luvriel, but it turns out that she has to lose her virginity to become an angel, so she decided to lose virginity to Naoto. Naoto tried his best to save Rika, but he couldn’t defend against the devil’s power. But when Luvriel arrived, she was wounded during the battle. When the battle is over, Naoto and Rika took her back to the apartment. Rika was worried about Luvriel and wants to take her to the hospital. As Luvriel woke up, she wanted to find a devil whom is attacking her. When she told stories about how angels and devils fought. Rika accepts to be a part of the army. Unfortenley, for Naoto, angels are suppose to be girls, but when Luvriel told Rika that she has to lose her virginity, she felt shocked and worried.

[edit] Devil Angels

A major plot point of each of the three games is the transformation of the female lead into one of the Devil Angels, under the title of St. Jibril, with later games, and the associated anime including the sub-plot of cleansing a former lead character.

The form of a Devil Angel differs with the person, with each having both an angelic aspect and a demonic aspect, depending on how they gain the power to transform. These usually are signified by a change in hair color, with angelic Jibrils all having hair that is some shade of light blue, and transformation into a leotard-style outfit. The only exclusion to this is the New Angelic Gaia Interface, which only has the change being that Nagi is changed into a leotard. In the games, the dark aspect is indicated by the colors of their uniforms changing to red and black, as well as changing their eye color, as well as other additions dependent on the level of corruption.

Known Devil Angels include -

  • Rika Manabe (Jibril)

Turned Dark at the climax of Jiburiru 2 in the games, and episode 2 of the second anime.

  • Hikari Jinno (Jibril Aries)

Turned Dark during early events in Jiburiru 3 in the games. There is no third anime at the moment.

  • New Angelic Gaia Interface / Nagi Jinno (Jibril Zero)

Notably, Nagi is able to regenerate damage, due to her unique nature.

[edit] Powers

"Amore" (Magical Energy): Transforms Rika, Hikari or Nagi into Jiburiru from having sex with a person of the opposite sex for whom they care for. Negative Amore, created by tentacle and/or demonic sex causes a Devil Angel to turn dark.

"Tenshi no Shiki" (Angelic Ceremony): By performing particular sex acts under the same conditions as when they accumulate Amore certain powers are stored up. Each power has two different forms: A Heaven Form and a Hell Form, which are achieved by a different act, but give the same effect. Despite the names of the forms, they do not visibly cause a Devil Angel to have a greater or lesser chance of turning Dark over time.

The two forms give them a choice on how they gain the power. The known powers and acts are as follows:

Power Heaven Form Act Hell Form Act
Angel Cutter Mammary Sex Anal Sex
Angel Shadows/Illusion Foot Fetish Sex Exhibitionism/Exposure Sex
Angel Mermaid Stance Cosplay Sex Outdoor Sex
Angel Dynamite Bathroom Sex Masturbation
Angel Overdrive Threesome Sex S/M Sex

"Angel Super Nova" - A Super Form, used once when their main powers fail them, this powers them up, allowing them to break free of whatever danger they are in. It is empowered by the wishes of someone who they especially care about. In Series 1, Jibril used this to break up the perverted Angelic Ceremony and allowed herself to destroy Rirouge. In Series 2, Jibril Aries used a variant of the technique to both defeat Dark Jibril and to break free of the dark trance.

[edit] Series 1

There are other powers later in the series, but in the beginning of the series, during the battle, Luvriel has Angelic Wind Storm and Asmo has Devil Storm, but unfortunately failed and defeated at the same time. In middle of the series, when Misty May shouts, blushes, or screams, she explodes .

[edit] Theme Songs

In the trilogy, the opening/ending theme songs differ from one another. Game theme songs were later inserted in the anime series at the end of credits, when the episode ends, in lieu of title credits. Also, The themes, where appropriate, are sometimes used in instrumental form as a leitmotif for each of the main female leads, and a remixed instrumental form is used as the menu theme for each game.

[edit] Anime and Game Differences

When Jibril was converted from a game into an anime, numerous changes were made, to shorten the physical length of the story, and also to allow for the added detail that some scenes could have. Additionally, some major changes were made to the story in general.

[edit] Makai Tenshi Jibril

  • Asmodesu uses the cover of a restaurant job to hide his work in converting Meimi in the game. In the anime, Meimi is hardily ever seen except as Misty May, and the restaurant never appears.

[edit] Makai Tenshi Jibril 2

  • All attacks are done with much more detail, rather than the single-frame flash-card system of the games.
  • Rika's defeat in Part 1 is done using a giant worm monster, which practically runs her down. In the game, Rika's surrender is very much glossed over.
  • The chamber where Rika is kept in the anime while she is being converted is in the middle of a sea of tentacles. In the game, it is some kind of laboratory which has been taken over by Rococo.
  • Rika's conversion is deliberately sped up in the anime, with a lot of Rococo's perverse acts removed.

[edit] General

  • Most of the training aspect of both Jibril and Jibril Aries is glossed over, with the game's training regime being much more intensive, and including a lot more variations. However, the majority of these variations are not needed for completion.
  • The Angel Super Nova, a 'super' form which all Jibrils can use at a time of great need, is not visibly featured in the games, but is a key plot point of the anime.
  • Rika's True Devil Jibril form is a blue version of her costume, without a halo in the anime, while in the games, she has a black and red uniform, and her hair becomes a darker shade of Rika's natural brown.
  • The Devil Angel costume has some serious weaknesses, depicted in the anime and manga, where a set of small feeler tentacles, hidden within the actual tentacles used to rape them, cause the fabric to crumble by touch, usually exposing the breasts and crotch, while, in the game, there is no depiction of this effect, and it appears to be torn away in most cases.

[edit] Trivia and Goofs

  • Jiburiru's romanized name, Jibril, is the same as the Arabic name of the archangel Gabriel.
  • The characters' hair styles (including Hikari Jinno and Luvriel), and Powers Transformations of the series is very similar to Sailor Moon, with Series 2 replacing the generic transformation sequences with ones using the same dressing style as is used on the other series.
  • The category of Jiburiru - The Devil Angel is actually Tentacle rape and it's very similar to La Blue Girl and Venus 5.
  • Meimi's alter ego, Misty May was named right after the beach volleyball player, Misty May-Treanor.
  • Asmo's real and romanized name is Asmodesu, and was named right after the a semi-Biblical demon, Asmodai.
  • Rococo was named after a style of 18th century French interior design, Rococo.
  • Luvriel has her own theme, "Control Is Impossible" in the anime, the theme being normally used in the games to indicate a manic period in the narrative, rather than Luvriel's appearance.
  • In the first episode of the first series, one goofed part can be observed when Asmo tries to insert his tail into Meimi's buttocks when she becomes a devil. The subtitles of Asmo's speech were missing. This part of the clip may be an error.
  • It is possible to complete the games using a minimum of training, as long as certain skills are emphasized, differing between the two games, by key points in each game.
  • A goof on the website for DJibril3 was that Hikari Jinno was initially depicted as having blond hair during the third game. When the demo version was released, this was amended to show that she would still have the same dark hair as before.
