[edit] COI?

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with,
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors,
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. For more details about what constitutes a conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest. Thank you. --Ronz 21:18, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

  • Thanks, Ronz. Good advice. No COI. Just link housekeeping and some context improvements.

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. [1] --Ronz 21:18, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

  • Thanks Ronz. I'm happy with the entry. Meets guidlelines. Was just doing some cosmetic housekeeping. Thanks again, looks great!

[edit] Verna J. Allee

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Verna J. Allee. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policy for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. --Ronz 22:53, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Verna J. Allee (redux)

Ronz, thanks, that helps. Just using other seminal thought leaders, authors and biographies as a guide. They have substantial external links. I subscribe and comply with the sensible guidelines. I think it is passes encyclopedic muster now. Let me know. BTW, there is no affiliation, product, promotion, intention of attraction or any commercial interest whatsoever. It is only mertious from an encyclopedic and intellectual standpoint. Thanks again for your coachin'. Cheers, John

[edit] Seeking third party opinion

I'm at a loss to understanding your edits. From my perspective many are obvious violations of WP:SPAM. Yet you continue as if there's no problem. I'm seeking an outside opinion from a neutral party. --Ronz 15:46, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Request for Ronz

Not sure what you mean. I have read and studied very carefully WP:SPAM. I am intimate with Wikipedia guidelines. There is positively nothing that even closely approaches any threshold described as spam as descibed in detail by Wikipedia. Also, ANY external links, and they are very few, are strictly from an encyclopedic and intellectual standpoint only. If you could simply furnish one example here of what you may consider a violation, it will be promptly remedied. For example, for Verna J. Allee the goal is parity with Don Tapscott for example. Also, for example, I need your advice on the Blau Excahnge external link at Peter Blau. It feels like this would be permmited, but I need your guidance. Thanks Ronz, your patience, advice and perseverance is appreciated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jheuristic (talkcontribs) 19:13, 28 July 2007

I've changed Don Tapscott to better comply with WP:SPAM. It was a bad example to follow in its previous state. --Ronz 04:54, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
Verna J. Allee has been updated, with explanations for further work on the talk page.
Could you explain how you think Blau Exchange meets WP:EL? As I already noted, I think it should be excluded because it's a forum/discussion site. --Ronz 05:02, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks Ronz

Much appreciated, very helpful.

I do not think the Blau exchange meets the criteria. Thanks for remonving. (Again, I saw this on other entries, but will stick to the canonical guidelines from now on.)

There are robust references for Verna J. Allee that meet or exceed criteria. They will be added after they are checked with the guidelines.

Thanks again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jheuristic (talkcontribs) 13:11, 30 July 2007

Glad I could help. Athaenara did the difficult work. --Ronz 19:12, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Housekeeping

Did some minor housekeeping on value networks.
