Jewish United Fund

The Jewish United Fund / Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago (JUF) is the umbrella Jewish organization in Chicago, Illinois. Founded in April 1900 under the name Associated Jewish Charities, the JUF has served as a major center for the Jewish community in the metropolitan Chicago area.
The JUF has long served as a major source of support for Jewish refugees who came to Chicago. In 1975, the JUF played a key role in settling Vietnamese refugees. Around half of all of the Bosnian refugees who came to Chicago in the late 1990s were resettled by the JUF, with the rest helped by World Relief. Today, the JUF administers the entire state of Illinois's resettlement program. It ranks as one of Chicago's most efficient not-for-profits.
