Category talk:Jewish American writers

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm curious as to the criteria for inclusion on this page, as I had noted that several writers (notably Roger Lowenstein) were included just because they have Jewish-sounding names and not because of anything particularly Jewish in their subject matter. I'd appreciate some feedback on this.--Mantanmoreland 12:27, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Eric Hoffer

Eric Hoffer is listed here as a Jewish American writer; but other apparently reliable sources identify him as a non-Jewish German-American, e.g., http://www.infoisrael.net/cgi-local/text.pl?source=5/c/050220061 . The Wikipedia article dedicated to him identifies him as Jewish only in the link to this Wikipedia list of Jewish American writers, which appears at the end of the article as a result of an automatic sort.Radix49 (talk) 00:15, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Radix49

[edit] Morris Rosenfeld

Just wondering if there's a reason he's listed under the Ms as opposed to the Rs? True, Rosenfeld wasn't the name he was born with, but it's the one he's best known by... I'm going to move him, but if someone wants to move him back I'd like to hear the rationale. Khanele (talk) 23:57, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Never mind— it was due to discrepancies in the category listings in the original article. It's been fixed. Khanele (talk) 00:14, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
