Jessica Stam (born April 23, 1986), also known simply as Stam, is a Canadian Supermodel.

[edit] Early life and discovery
Jessica Stam was born in Kincardine, Ontario and grew up on a farm alongside her six brothers. She came from a religious family and she attended Sacred Heart High School (in Walkerton, Ontario). Originally wanting to be a dentist, she was soon to be one of the top earning supermodels today.[1]
Jessica Stam was discovered in a local Tim Hortons coffee shop by Michèle Miller (an agent at the International Model Management agency in Barrie, Ontario) who found Stam on the way back from Canada's Wonderland (a theme park just outside Toronto).[1]

Jessica Stam won the Los Angeles Model Look Search in 2002.[citation needed] Photographer Steven Meisel jump started her career and soon after cast her in every ad campaign of his. Suddenly, she was a star. "I guess I'm his muse," she has said.[1] She has appeared on the cover of UK & German Vogue and she has appeared in advertisements for Marc Jacobs, Anna Sui, Vera Wang, Valentino, Miu Miu, Gucci, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace and Holt Renfrew, Dior, BCBG Maxazria, Lanvin, Roberto Cavalli, H&M, and DKNY. In 2004, Stam appeared in the short film Agent Orange.
Fashion designer Marc Jacobs created The Marc Jacobs Stam, a bag inspired by and named after her. For the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2006 she opened the fourth runway theme "Pink". The appearance also included a featurette showing a Victoria’s Secret commercial shoot and what a model sees when walking the runway. In the January 2006, she appeared in the Rochas ad campaign, shot and directed by Bruno Aveillan.
For Spring 2006 Ready-to-Wear, Stam walked a total of 64 shows combined during the New York, Milan, and Paris Fashion Weeks. During Paris's Spring/Summer 2007 Haute Couture fashion week she walked for Chanel, Christian Lacroix, Christian Dior, Givenchy, and Jean Paul Gaultier. She currently stands at number four on the "Top 50 Models" rating at models.com. In the May 2007 issue of American Vogue she was featured on the cover with fellow models: Doutzen Kroes, Caroline Trentini, Raquel Zimmermann, Sasha Pivovarova, Agyness Deyn, Coco Rocha, Hilary Rhoda, Chanel Iman, and Lily Donaldson as the new crop of supermodels.
In July 2007, earning at an estimated total of $1.5 million in the past 12 months, Forbes named her fifteenth in the list of the World's 15 Top-Earning Supermodels.[2] Currently she stars in campaigns for Bulgari, Dior, Lanvin and Escada. She also appears in the F/W 2007 Christian Dior, DKNY, Miss Sixty, Loewe and Roberto Cavalli ad campaigns. She also had campaigns for Burberry early this year. Last year in 2007 she had modelled for The Victoria's Secret runway show.

Jessica Stam is known for her trademark eyes, which are ice blue/gray. Many times they are slit and have a slight heavyness to them. She is also known for her walk, a causal cool type of walk. She has also been in the group of models considered the "doll faces", alongside fellow models ( Gemma Ward, Lily Cole, Caroline Trentini, Lisa Cant, Devon Aoki, and Heather Marks ). Jessica also has a tattoo on her foot with Chinese writing. Contrary to belief, she is actually a natural blonde and has dyed her hair red. She is also known for her personality and for being a private person backstage.

Jessica Stam has had some public relationships with ( Harrison Ford's son) Malcolm, Anthony Kiedis (of the Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Adam Goldstein. In January 2006 she was photographed topless while frolicking with Kiedis on the Caribbean island of St. Barts. On January 12, 2006 she was photographed with him during a Los Angeles Lakers/Cleveland Cavaliers basketball game at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. They soon after broke up and shortly after she was seen dating Adam Goldstein for a short while in 2007.
In her free time, she has told in interviews that, she enjoys being a normal person and spending time with her close friends[citation needed]. She has said that her friends still treat her the same way and she is happy for that. (Youtube interview, FTV.)[citation needed] She recently moved up in NYC and her new apartment has been said to be worth several million[citation needed].

She has been part of 'Charity', the name of the organiztion which raises awareness and funds for educating people about poverty and world issues. They sell $20 bottles of water and 100% of the profit goes to "directly to building freshwater wells and supplying clean water to impoverished communities in Africa." (glam.com)[citation needed]
