Jersey Devil is a 3D platform game released for the PlayStation. Jersey Devil, the protagonist of the game, is (hinted by his/her name) a Jersey Devil, although shares more characteristics to that of a bat. His primary mission is to stop Dr. Knarf, who tries to stop Jersey Devil with mutated pumpkins. Jersey Devil uses his punch, jumping, and gliding abilities to defeat his enemies. In numerous areas of the game, it is necessary to collect all five letters of Knarf's name to proceed, adding a puzzle element to the gameplay.
Levels in the game include: Museum Madness, Dome Sweet Dome, Green Park, Root Canal, Cemetery, Haunted Mansion, Chemical Wasteland, Sludge Slides, Sewer Port, Monkey's Trail, Knarf's Forest, and Knarf's Lair.
[edit] Criticism
This game was somewhat disliked by both reviewers and gamers alike for its camera controls and that objects will sometimes seem "invisible" when behind Jersey Devil. However, a common praise given to the game was its orchestral score by Gilles Léveillé.
[edit] Trivia
- The game's title character is an obvious reference to the fabled Jersey Devil, as his name implies.
- In reviews, this game is often compared to Gex: Enter the Gecko because they share common complaints and their gameplay is somewhat similar.
