Jeremy Farrell

Jeremy Farrell (born November 11, 1986 in Monmouth Beach, New Jersey) is the son of Sue and John Farrell, Major League Baseball pitching coach for the Boston Red Sox. Has two younger brothers (Shane and Luke).

Farrell grew up in Westlake, Ohio and attended St. Ignatius High School. At Ignatius he played four years of baseball, two years of basketball and one year as the schools football quarterback. Farrell was an Honor Roll student.

• Earned all-star honors in the Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate League, where he was one of few high school players in a predominantly college league.

Farrell was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 41st round of the 2005 draft. He opted to enter college and attends the University of Virginia. His freshman year Farrell started 45 of 48 games at third base and had the fifth-best batting average on the team (.324). He was named to Baseball America's Fab 50 list for the top freshmen in 2006.
