WikiProject Biography Assessment

This profile needs a pic...she's and Oscar Winner, for Gods Sake...

Could use a photo, but otherwise a tidy B.

The article may be improved by following the WikiProject Biography 11 easy steps to producing at least a B article. -- Yamara 13:22, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Misdajania tillery is j. hud. lil sis 4 life

morbidly obese? is that not a bit biased and unnecessary? 75.84.204.160 04:45, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

congrats Jennifer on the new movie role!! 198.208.159.20 21:43, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

I don't know much about this topic at all, but the paragraph surrounding the controvery around her being voted off looks like it written by a BIG fan. "3 best contestants"? No cite for "bit of a controversy" line, either. Jweed 21:48, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

Jennifer Hudson's middle name is Kate which probably comes from her grandmother who also had Kate as a middle name. http://216.239.51.104/search?q=cache:aeuvApIn2cIJ:www.myrtlebeachonline.com/mld/charlotte/entertainment/8468635.htm+%22Jennifer+Kate+Hudson%22&hl=en This cached page lists her as Jennifer Kate Hudson 66.177.3.102 04:50, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

Is there anyway we can add a photo? There was one there before but it's gone now. I'm sure we can get a photo from her site or from a Dreamgirls trailer. CaravaggioFan 04:55, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

Thank you MIS= in the 21st century. She did not volunteer her private views, they were pried out of her and then she was taken to task when they turned out to be something other than the answer homosexuals were looking for, with such typical vehemence that she was practically forced to recant her remarks just to stay in the business. This used to be America where people were allowed to have their own opinion. To the average American who is not as jaded and out of touch as Hollywood is, this episode shows clearly who the intolerant ones really are. I think all of this is highly relevant to the article. 70.16.252.23 01:11, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
Actually, many homosexuals (myself included) praised her for accepting homosexuality as no more a 'sin' to the Christian mindset than any other sin. I have yet to see any 'browbeating' for what is a fairly liberal Christian interpretation of homosexuality as a sin. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 132.162.219.149 (talk) 08:35, 28 February 2007 (UTC).
12-07-2006 "In a recent interview, I was asked how I reconciled being a Christian with performing at events for my gay fans. I find it upsetting that some folks equate being a Christian with being intolerant of gay people. That may, unfortunately, be true for some, but it is not true for me. I have talked often of my love and support of the gay community. I have said again and again that it was the gay community that supported me long before and long after AMERICAN IDOL, and kept me working and motivated. It is the gay community that celebrated my voice and my size and my personality long before DREAMGIRLS. Yes, I was raised Baptist. Yes, I was taught that the Bible has certain views on homosexuality. The Bible also teaches us not to judge. It teaches us to love one another as God loves us all. I love my sister, my two best friends and my director dearly. They happen to be gay. So what? While some search for controversy, I hope that my friends and fans who know me, know where I stand."

From Jennifer Hudson's official website. A liberal Christian view of homosexuality for which she has not been widely criticised - at least, not by homosexuals. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 132.162.219.149 (talk) 08:51, 28 February 2007 (UTC).

Indeed, those remarks apparently came shortly after she received the aforementioned browbeating in the homosexual media. Typical sample:
"There exists in all of Gaydom perhaps no greater paradox than the one represented by the inner struggle of the Bible-thumping diva, who would have no career if not for the Gays who idolize them, but whose strict religious upbringing teaches them that God looks unkindly on the shirtless, sodomizing hordes gazing worshipfully up at them from the dancefloors below. No, not even Jennifer Hudson, recently anointed Gay Man's Messiah for her up-from-the-American-Idol-ashes, Beyoncé-upstaging turn as Effie in Dreamgirls, is immune from the fanbase-alienating phenomenon... Hudson is a novice at the media junket game, and we suspect all it will take is one such slip-up before she learns the hard way of just how quickly the Gays can taketh away whatever squealy adulation they choose to give." [1]
...etc... Note, the not-so-subtle threats made against her career throughout this page, as if these are her only fans who matter, while the vast majority of Americans who feel differently, do not. We only get to make our voice heard on election days. Meanwhile, we witness as yet another bright young person is obliged to trade her soul for fleeting worldly fame. 70.16.252.23 04:34, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

If you find it so relevant then find sources and write up a new section about it. Also please try to remain civil when discussing things on the talk page.--Joebengo 02:00, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cleanup

This page needs cleanup and sorting. For example, the "Background" section has current events such news about her "Vogue" cover. This should be in a separate section. In addition, there are no sources attributing the quotes of most of the Dreamgirls reviews. This is why I added the tags. SKS2K6 08:58, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Can this profile get a picture? Its been without one for like 2 or 3 months...there are thousands of pics online...can one of the site directors give her one?

This profile needs a picture. There are a million pics of her online, looking really nice. Can the designers of this profile please give her a picture...

We need a free image, not a copyrighted image. I am working on this as we speak. miranda 01:59, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Jennifer Hudson Day in Chicago

March 6, 2007 is Jennifer Hudson Day. There was a big celebration in Chicago at the Chicago Theatre that included Mayor Richard M. Daley and various city aldermen. 67.162.108.111 22:44, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Criticism on Oscar Win

Should it be noted that many people expressed discomfort with her win? It seems as though some feel she didn’t deserve it over the other nominees. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.248.172.10 (talk) 20:28, 7 March 2007 (UTC).

Happens pretty much every year. I don't see any such criticisms on the Butch & Sundance page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 209.191.205.56 (talk) 23:28, 9 March 2007 (UTC).

==where are the articles references???== MISDAJANIA IS JENNIFER HUDSON'S SIS 4 EVER. I LOVE JENNIFER HUFSON

Yes, you people are right, some people, especially the paparazzi, are asking, why did Jennifer get the Oscar? and all you should say if someone asks you is: Because she outsung the other nominees, out-acted the other nominees, and blew by the other nominees! Congrats on your Oscar and Academy Award! I hope you get a recording career soon!Meldshal42 20:25, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

There is always discomfort every year with anyone that wins. Many people didn't want Forrest Whitaker to win. Many people didn't want Halle Berry to win. Many didn't want Jaimie Fox to win. But..the majority of people did. Just as, JHud won in almost every single awards show she was in except for one or two i believe. If we listed the "discomfort" of a small amount of people, then we would have to list that in every single academy award winners win wouldn't we?

And I saw all of the performances in the supporting actress category and didn't see anything that was better than Jennifer Hudson's performance. Rinko Kikuchi pretty much just got naked and flashed her vagina...is that worthy of an oscar? I don't think so.

You ignorant tit. Did you even watch Babel? History will show JHud's win to be one of the all-time Oscar lows. It's amazing what a plug from Oprah can do. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.218.89.229 (talk) 15:42, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Stand Up

Stand Up was available to download on her website long before it was "leaked" on Limewire but since she recorded that song (as well as Love Me or Leave Me, To Love Somebody, Where Did All The Good Men Go?) with a different company, it's doubtful it will be on her Arista cd 74.229.215.99 09:05, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Redundant

Wouldn't the academy award section be redundant since it is already stated in the Dreamgirls section that she won an academy award? let's look to take that out maybe..Jjkayes (talk) 13:12, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
