[edit] Historical use

Women's dressing in the Ottoman Empire was similar to that worn by Muslim women in the Middle East. Jelick was worn over a knee-length, white, sleeved chemise called gömlek and usual full trousers called şalvar wrapped by a decorative waist sash called kuşak. It was usually accompanied with a long gown called entari.
