Jekabs Kulis was a sergeant in (most probably) the Latvian police brigade which became part of the Nazi SS during the Second World War. He is known to have helped a 5 year old boy named Alex Kurzem escape a Nazi death squad, by providing a false identity. Jekabs knew that Alex was Jewish, but declared him to be a Russian orphan. The reason for this decision is unclear.
