Jeannette Altwegg (born September 8, 1930) is a retired British figure skater. She first rose to prominence by capturing the bronze medal at the 1948 Winter Olympics.
Altwegg was born in Liverpool in 1930.
Altwegg was a competitive tennis player, reaching the junior finals at Wimbledon in 1947 before giving up the sport to focus on skating.
She won the gold medal at the 1951 World Figure Skating Championships and capped her career by winning gold at the 1952 Winter Olympics. Afterwards, she bypassed a lucrative professional career to take a job working with war orphans.[citation needed]
