Jean-Baptiste Louis Romé de l'Isle (August 26, 1736–July 3, 1790) was a French mineralogist considered one of the creators of modern crystallography.
He formulated the Law of Constancy of Interfacial Angles in his Traitise on Crystallography (1772), which built on observations by the geologist Nicolaus Steno.
Romé de l'Isle was born in Gray, Haute-Saône, in eastern France and died in Paris, France on July 3, 1790.
