Je n'ai que mon âme (English translation: "I Only Have My Soul") was the French entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001, performed in French (with some lyrics in English) by Natasha St-Pier.

The song was performed fourteenth on the night (following Spain's David Civera with Dile Que La Quiero and preceding Turkey's Sedat Yüce with Sevgiliye Son). At the close of voting, it had received 142 points, placing 4th in a field of 23.
The song is a power ballad, with St-Pier attempting to resurrect what appears to be a doomed relationship, telling her lover that she still has feelings for him, even though neither of them have expressed them recently.
It was succeeded as French representative at the 2002 Contest by Sandrine François with Il Faut Du Temps (Je Me Battrai Pour Ça).
[edit] Chart performances
In France, the single was charted for 26 weeks in the top 100. It started at #11 on May 5, 2001, then reached the top ten and eventually peaked at #2 in its sixth and seventh weeks. It was unable to disloge MC Solaar's "Inch'Allah" which topped the chart then. After that, the single almost kept on fropping on the chart and totaled nine weeks in the top ten and 19 weeks in the top 50.[1] It achieved Gold status awarded by the SNEP[2] and was ranked at #28 on the Annual Chart.[3]
In Belgium (Wallonia), "Je n'ai que mon âme" went to #11 on May 12, then jumped to #3 and finally hit #2 the two weeks later, being blocked behind Daddy DJ's eponymous single. However, it dropped rather quickly on the chart, remaining for seven weeks in the top ten and 12 weeks in the top 40.[4] It was the 17th best-selling single of the year in this country.[5]
