Joseph Bessie currently serves as Vice President for Academic Affairs at Valley City State University in Valley City, ND. Prior to that he served as Dean of Instruction for Transfer Programs at Ridgewater College in Willmar, MN and, for ten years, as a philosophy professor at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, OK.

Dr. Bessie's specializations and interests include mathematical logic, the philosophy of science and, more recently, management ethics. He holds an M.B.A. in management from Southwest Minnesota State University (2003), a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Minnesota (1991), and a B.A. in philosophy and psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz (1978). He is the author, with Stuart Glennan of Butler University, of an introduction to formal logic, Elements of Deductive Inference (Wadsworth publishing, 1999).

Dr. Bessie contributes occasional edits to Wikipedia articles.
