[edit] Creative jazz

I removed "Creative jazz" here -- there's no page to link to & it's not a genre I've ever heard of. -- I'm tempted to delete "Mini-jazz" too given that a google search turned up very little, though it does seem to be a real genre. --ND 21:03, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

I've put a citation request on the Mini-jazz article as nothing seems to show on Google other than versions of itself; nor does its major exponent. There is a subsection on Music_of_Haiti but that does not seem consistent with the article - and also calls it a form of "pure pop" rather than jazz. So until/unless there is some clarification of the genre and its notability, I think it better deleted from the template and will do so. AllyD (talk) 19:55, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Deleting Template:Jazz lists

This template does a disservice to all of the great Jazz articles by grouping them together as a footer. By attempting to be as expansive as Template:Jazzbox it blurs too many topics together and takes away the individual poignancy of having separate boxes for each of the main topics, ala Genres, Topics, Lists and Lists of Musicians. It is too bad that User:TeaDrinker acted unilaterally in deleting Template:Jazz lists, which sought to establish the reality outlined above. • Freechild'sup? 04:29, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Howdy! It is a minor (although important) technical point that the template was not deleted, but rather made to be a redirect to Template:Jazzfooter. This has the effect of making all instances where {{jazz lists}} is called, {{Jazzfooter}} shows up instead. This is not an administrative action, and can be reversed by going to Jazz lists (no redirect) and reverting to the version desired. For myself, I cam across this when speedy deletion was requested (which I denied in favor of the redirect, as the template was still in wide use), and have no feelings on what style is preferable. I would, however, be happy to help with whatever consensus decision is arrived at. --TeaDrinker (talk) 05:09, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Template usage guideline

Should the Jazzfooter template only be added to articles that it links to, on the basis that it's a navigation box, the primary purpose of which is to provide one-click navigation between the most important jazz related articles? Or, should it be added to other jazz related articles as well, for example an article about a specific jazz musician? Mudwater (Talk) 12:22, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
