Gears of War is a tactical third-person shooter video game series developed by Epic Games and published by Microsoft Game Studios. The series mainly focuses on soldiers of Delta Squad and their fight to save humanity, on the fictional planet of Sera from a relentless subterranean enemy known as the Locust Horde. The series currently consists of one game and a planned second installment.^[1]

The game allows the player to assume the role of Marcus Fenix, a former prisoner and war-hardened soldier.

[edit] Lancer Assault Rifle

The Lancer Assault Rifle is the primary weapon of the series.^[2] The rifle is both a mid-range gun and a melee gun. The weapon is both a gun and a chainsaw. Like an actual chainsaw, before the chinsaw is usable, the player must start it up.
