Jaycar is an Australian and New Zealand electronics retailer dealing in electronic components and related products for the electronics enthusiast.

Jaycar was founded in 1981 when a former Dick Smith employee, Gary Johnston bought John Carr Pty Ltd. A major portion of their catalogue is devoted to what they term "hardcore electronics", differentiating them from rivals such as Dick Smith Electronics. Jaycar's catalogue comes bundled with Silicon Chip Magazine annually, and is also available for separate purchase. The catalogue originally contained a data section, but the information has since been relocated to the company's website. It is available for free download.

Jaycar Electronics has 51 stores [1] across Australia and New Zealand, with over a hundred authorized stockists (which carry products from the Electus wholesale division).

From the end of 2007 through the start of 2008, the headquarters is in the process of moving to a new, larger premises. The main administrative functions moved in mid February with the warehouse expected to finalize relocation by mid April.
