Jay Hopler

American poet Jay Hopler was born in Puerto Rico in 1970. His first collection of poems, Green Squall, was selected by Louise Glück as the winner of 2005's Yale Younger Poets Award. [1]
He currently teaches creative writing at the University of South Florida.

Jay Hopler is the author of a collection of poems, Green Squall, published by Yale University Press. His first book, The Killing Spirit: An Anthology of Murder for Hire, was published by Overlook Press in 1996. He holds degrees in creative writing from the Johns Hopkins Writing Seminars and the Iowa Writers' Workshop. His awards include the Yale Younger Poets Prize, the Great Lakes College Association Prize, and many others.
