From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jason Sears (23 January 196831 January 2006) was an American punk rock vocalist best known for his work with Rich Kids on LSD from 1982 to their first breakup in 1990 and again from 1993 to 2006. He was also an accomplished snowboarder who was part of the first Barfoot snowboarding team.

In a 2002 interview with Thrasher magazine, Sears said the name of the group came as a fluke: “It happened that some guy said, 'Ha, those kids will never be anything, they're just a bunch of rich kids on LSD, man.' The first party we played we didn't have a name for the band, so we put that one on the flier and it just stuck.”

Was one of many singers to contribute to the album Strait Up which was an album made in memory of Lynn Strait, the late lead singer of the band Snot.

Sears died in a Tijuana clinic where he was being treated with ibogaine, a drug derived from a West African plant that can help overcome addiction and withdrawal.

"This song's goin' out to Schlump. He's a great dude. Drink Positive."

He is mentioned by NOFX in the song "Doornails" from the album Wolves in Wolves' Clothing in the line: This Patrón's for Jason. The rest of the song's lyrics were mainly tributes to deceased punk rock musicians.

"I produced the Rich Kids on LSD album, Riches To Rags. Jason Sears was one of the most casismatic, talented vocalists I have ever worked with. He was one of those performers that was absolutely captivating to watch. It was sad to watch such a talent battle his demons... His death is a tragic loss to a great band." -Patrick Coughlin.
