[edit] High school career

Babin attended Paw Paw High School and lettered in football and wrestling. In football, he was a two-time team Defensive MVP, and was an All-Kalamazoo Valley Association first team choice as a senior. In wrestling, he was the state champion as a senior. Came back from a broken leg his senior year, playing in the last 3 games earning a scholarship from Western Michigan University. Played against Noah Herron and T.J. Duckett in High School, both of whom are in the NFL.

[edit] College career

Babin attended Western Michigan University and finished his college football career with 38 sacks, 299 tackles, eight forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. He was the first player ever from Western Michigan University to be drafted in the first round.

[edit] Pro career

Babin played 16 games in his rookie season for Houston. He gained 63 tackles and 4 sacks for a mediocre rookie season. In 2005, he only played in 12 games, and only got 35 tackles. However, he matched his 2004 sack mark with four, and also forced two fumbles. In 2006, he played 15 games, getting 26 tackles and a career high five sacks. His tackle mark might have gone down because of his transition from a run defender to a pass rusher. On September 1, 2007, he was traded by the Houston Texans to the Seattle Seahawks for SS Michael Boulware.

[edit] Personal life

Babin is an avid hunter. He supplements his $23 million NFL salary with revenues from the Babin Ranch in Center, Texas. He and his father and two associates guide hunters in tracking down whitetail deer, elk, buffalo, zebra, ram, wildebeest and rabid wild boar -- just about anything that can be tracked.
