Okay, this article says that Leto was born in Louisiana and the UK. Obviously he can't be born in both places, so which one was it? And who cares if he's gay or not?


Leto is the name of his ADOPTED father, Tony Leto,...so who knows. He has stated that he is from Louisiana..don't know where the UK thing came from. Nor the Irish comment???

It's arguable whether he is gay. I read the interview (http://music.aol.com/artists/aim-celebrity-interview/jared-leto-page-2) and honestly it's hard to tell if he is or isn't (even though he says "I'm gay"). It seems to me that he just doesn't care what people think about his sexuality. I heard he's bisexual before so it's quite unclear what he is.

I'd say that until there's some confirmation from sources outside the blogosphere one way or another, we'd do best not to treat his offhand remark (likely a joke, given the context, albeit in fairly poor taste) with much credulity. In any case, this is most definitely not solidified, and shouldn't be presented as encyclopedic fact until there's some deeper development on it. Keep your eyes on the entertainment news to see where it goes, and update the article when there's a more concrete basis to believe he's not just kidding around. Lekoman 22:16, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
Let's hope not, he's not attractive. When he mentioned that he was gay the interviewer was shocked and wanted more information however he changed the subject quickly. He is either kidding or doing it for publicity or both. (Anonymous User) May 29, 2006

It reminds me of a someone I know, who just loves the attention of constantly telling people different things and getting a buzz about him. But god, the article. I'd like to think he's gay or bisexual and his publicists took it back.

On the Relationships/Trivia sections I think we should stick to the facts. I would hope people are not abusing Wikipedia and turning into a tabloid. Maybe delete those sections until there are verifiable citations? Munin and hugin 21:17, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

OK. I think that Jared Leto is NOT gay. He may be Bisexual. But why would it matter? Thats his business not ours. We shouldnt have a say in this.... But by the way, I would still be a stong supporter of Jared even if he was gay. Jared Leto is GAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone gonna add anything about his band? They're singles have been on the air over here in ohio


I was at lollapollozaa in chiago [aug.6.06] and 30 seconds to mars were absolutley incredible. I cant stand how you people obsess over his looks. Yes I agree he is strongly attractive , but his music is more honorable. He dosent get true fans by his past acting career's. When I was at lollapollozaa he climbed the stage while singing a song. I'm not talking climbing a few marshalls , I'm talking the metal bars holding the stage. Then he threw out roses and Popsicles out to the crowd. He talked to the crowd and was EXSTREMLY friendly. He came off the satage and talked. His brother and the other band mates played a most incredible set. I just want to say if you EVER get a chance to go see them. DO IT !!!

I seen the band at Bamboozle, May 9th 06, and they to were incredible. and they also there to signed merch for their fans and stuff. And for anyone to dislike the band because Jared Leto is also an actor and because they feel that because of that he really didn't have to work to hard to get a record deal, is just obsurd because this band is so good and has amazing talent it would be a crime not to like 30 Seconds to Mars.--MyChemical 01:37, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Vanity Project?

I'm seeing what seems to be a conflict here: On the main page for his band, I quote the line, "Although Leto is a Hollywood actor, he originally preferred not to use this information to promote the band; in fact, the band used to refuse to play at venues that use his fame to promote shows." I don't see how one can label this a vanity project if that statement is, in fact, true, regardless of affinity for Mr. Leto or the band and their music.

There is no mention anywhere of Leto's custom made Steve McSwain guitars, and there should be.

I was going to contribute this to the 30STM page, but I got told it should go here instead, but I feel it should be mentioned on both, because it is quite a big point to musicians interested in custom equipment, and Jared Leto / 30STM fans.

My original 'talk' was: "I've just been reading, and I think there should be a section to mention Jared's custom made guitars - the Steve McSwain models, which McSwain has called "Gryphon" (both the black and the white ones) yet Jared has named the white one "Pythagoras" after the Greek philosopher and mathematician, and I can't remember what he called the black one - but it will be something Greek.

The design was drawn by Jared and given to McSwain, who made the guitars from scratch, and the image of a Griffin / Gryphon has been carved into them, they use a single Seymour Duncan pickup at the bridge and only have a volume control."

I have been told that Jared Leto is in a Marriage. I do not have any ground sources at this time, but I can further look into that. If anyone else has any information about that, comment it please. Yes I have heard the Rumors about him being gay, or bisexual. if so, who really cares, I' am not bi or gay myself, but I support it and i Do not this it makes a difference wheather he is or not. I mean honeslty, it's up to him and let him do what he wants. I do not get why it would be such a big deal. He is a great singer, a good actor, and well a great body and good looks ( I am a girl). I have checked Jared Leto's movie lists on various sites and I do not see Phone Booth which starred Colin Farrell. I may be mistaken but I could swear that Jared Leto was one of the Colin's character's clients - Colin played a promoter and Jared appeared as a musician. I've watched this for a few days now. Erishi posts unsubstaniated information. Calling Leto a "pathological liar" and other bits. People have been correcting it and they return and post it all again.

They need to stop. And note to Erishi, a tabloid is NOT a reliable source for correct information.

For a source, I could link you to 15+ interviews where it is obvious he is making up stories. And a couple where he admits to it... what's the big deal. It's fun for the fans. I read in an article that in May 2004 Jared Leto married his long time girl-friend Arly Arkerstream but it say's nothing about a divorce just that he dated scarlett johanson and lindsay lohan a few years after so no clue if he is still married or not but it was reported that he married Arly. I have removed the Trivia section - please see WP:BLP. Biographies of living people do not support trivia sections. Most of the information within the section was irrelevant to most of his biography. Yesterday I added the Biography section for Leto. Other than the filmography, the article didn't mention anything about his film career and focused solely on his role as singer of the band 30 Seconds to Mars. I also trimmed that section because it mentioned irrelevant information about the band member changes, record sales, etc. that belong to the bands article. I'm also reluctant to keep the line about Leto breaking his nose in a concert. I don't see that's so relevant to the article. Thief12 15:28, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Not a vegetarian: Doesn't eat red meat!

Jared never stated he was a vegan or the like. He stated in a live interview he doesn't eat red meat. He seen and known to eat eggs and chocolate milk. And especially loves fries....cooked in vegetable oil of course!

Um, you're not supposed to eat the eggs with meat in them. You're supposed to eat the eggs where the hens have been kept seperate from the roosters (if you don't know what effect this would have on the eggs, you're too young to use the internet, there's bad stuff out there). Your way would be disgusting (granted, the act of eating eggs in general is disgusting if you think about it. "Kids, it's that time of the month! He is not gay,...! He is together with his personal assistant! He started the relationship with his personal assistant in 2005 when he cheated on Lindsay Lohan with her! Then he had a relationship break with his personal assistant in 2006/2007 (no photos of her in the background at the VMAs 2006,...), during this time Jared Leto had a one nightstand (or more) with a Penthouse Playmate and then he came together with his personal assistant again (she went with him on Tour with Linkin Park in Europe in 2007, then had a Love Holiday together in Paris,...)! And now they are 24/7 together! You can see photos of them (private, tour, award shows, film set,...) everywhere on the internet and on Jared Leto and 30 Seconds to Mars fanpages!

The video for A Beautiful Lie wasn't directed by Bartholomew Cubbins. Instead it was a different alias, Angakok Panipaq. Also, the album of the same name was released in 2005, not 2006.

[edit] News about Emma, Chapter 27 Premiere in LA,...!

So we waved and said goodbye and he and Emma and the guy from the movie distributor got into the car - he was driving - and the bunch of us walked back over to the other side of the parking lot to chat a bit. That happened to be the way he had to drive to get out, so when he got by us, he stopped and rolled down the window and was like, hey look - hydrogen powered car! And we were like yeah, we noticed (it was hard NOT to - the car has huge letters along the sides that say CLEAN ENERGY)! Then he waved again and drove off. Overall, it was a very sweet little encounter - he seemed boyishly eager to talk about the music and such, and proud of his new green car. Aww, bless.
