Jari Kainulainen (nickname Jartsi) (born 1970-04-29 in Finland) was the bassist of the Finnish power metal band Stratovarius from 1993 to 2005. Rumor has it that he left because he was tired of working together with his band-mate Timo Tolkki.[citation needed] He played on the 2005 album Stratovarius, but was then replaced by Lauri Porra. He plays a six-string Ibanez bass. He now has his own band called MESS.
Publicly announced on August 6, 2007, Kainulainen has become the current bass player for the Swedish progressive power metal band Evergrey. He now lives in Norway with his wife Heidi and daughter Saga.
