I think this should have a summary of his career before F1. After all, he was the British F3 Champion in 1994 with 288 points, nearly 100 more than the runner up.

He was one member of the Paul Stewart F3 Racing Team - his co-driver was Dario Francitti who also went on to CART and IRL. Neither went to F3000 like some of their contemporaries. During 1994 Dario had a lot of bad luck but he was generally out-classed by Jan given that he had the same machinery and support.

Also, some explanation of the circumstances where he left Stewart F1.
