Janusz Kurtyka

Janusz Kurtyka (1960-) is a Polish historian and a second president of a Instytut Pamięci Narodowej (Institute of National Remembrance) (since 29 December 2005). A historian in Polish Academy of Sciences since 1985, he specialized in Polish medieval history and Polish communist history. Contributor to Wielka Encyklopedia PWN and Polski Słownik Biograficzny. Activist of Independent Students Union and Solidarity.
