Jannatul Baqee

The Jannatul Baqee (or Jannat-ul-Baqi or Jannat Al-Baqi) is a famous cemetery located across from the Masjid-al-Nabawi, (the mosque where Muhammad is buried), in Medina, Saudi Arabia. Decendents of Muhammad who are buried in this cemetery include:

• Ibrahim – Son by Maria al-Qibtiyya
• Fatima Zahra – Daughter by first wife Khadijah bint Khuwaylid
• Imam Hasan ibn Ali – Grandson, son of Fatima
• Imam Ali Ibnul Hussain – Great Grandson
• Imam Muhammad Baqir – Great Grandson
• Imam Ja’afar Sadiq – Great Grandson
• Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib – Uncle

On April 21, 1925, mausoleums in Jannatul Baqee were demolished by King Ibn Saud. In the same year, he also demolished the tombs of holy personalities at Jannat al-Mualla (Makkah) where Muhammad's mother, wife, grandfather and other ancestors are buried. Destruction of sacred sites in Hijaz by the Saudis continues even today.^{[citation needed]}
