Janet Horne

Janet Horne, (d. 1727), was a Scotisch alleged witch, the last person to be executed for sorcery in Great Britain.
Janet Horne and her daughter was arrested in Dornoch in Scotland an imprisoned on the accusations of her neighbours. Horne was showing signs of being senile, and her daughter had a deformaty of her hands and feet. The neighbours accused Horne of having used her daughter as a pony to ride to the Devil, where she had her shoed by Satan. The trial was conducted very quickly; the sheriff had both of them judged guilty and sentenced them to be burned at the stake. The daughter managed to eskape, but Janet Horne was stripped, smeared with tar, paraded through the town on a barrel and burned alive.
