[edit] Playing career
Hlaváč has played at the National Hockey League level for the New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Vancouver Canucks, Carolina Hurricanes, and Nashville Predators. His first stint with the Rangers saw him play on the Czech-mate line with fellow countrymen Radek Dvořák and Petr Nedvěd. He was unable to duplicate his early success in Philadelphia, Vancouver, and Carolina and returned to Europe following a second stint with New York in 2003–04. He played with the Tampa Bay Lightning on a line with Brad Richards and Michel Oullet before being traded to the Nashville Predators. He had nine goals, 13 assists, and 22 total points as of Feb. 23 for the Lightning. Hlaváč had monumental success with Nashville, scoring during his first game as a Predator.
