Jan E. DuBois

Jan Ely DuBois is a judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Born in 1931 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Judge DuBois graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1952. From 1952 to 1954 Judge DuBois served in the United States Army. He received his LL.B. from Yale Law School in 1957. While in law school, Judge DuBois served as a clerk at the United States Department of Justice in 1956. He was a law clerk to Judge Jarry Kalodner of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit from 1957 to 1958. From 1958 to 1988 he worked in private practice in Philadelphia. In 1988 President Ronald Reagan appointed DuBois to the Eastern District. He assumed senior status on April 15, 2002.
