[edit] Long Island, Maine
I would like your opinion on how we can better the Long Island, Maine page, as this is my hometown--I would like to develop it into a feature article. Almost Famous 07:30, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
As it stands, it's not too bad, as a typical small-town article. It's better than a stub, anyway. Some of the history stuff is borderline POV, but not too bad. It's written in a way that tries to sound 3rd party objective. From my personal knowledge, the article is generally accurate, but definitely needs sourcing/citation. That's the only major deficiency. - Sourcing any information on Long Island could be difficult, as the internet doesn't have a lot--most of what's known is known through the local libraries and historical society archives, town hall records-- and so on. All of these institutions are far from being up to par with the internet age. If I get together some public domain images and some historical information--could I run it by you before I post it? - Well, I suppose my changes can be reverted if they are too much so I started by adding some Public Domain imagery to the LI article--as well as explaining the situation in regards to the lifestyle (how there's only two general stores, one restaurant, so on and so on.) But I'm collecting a lot of data from the historical society as well, which I hope to have by the end of the week. Almost Famous 05:24, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
