[edit] Another James H. Harris

Note that there is another James H. Harris of the same era. See North Carolina Historical marker website. He was also African-American, born in slavery but freed well before the Civil War. Like this James H. Harris, he served in the Union Army in the Civil War. After the war, he returned to North Carolina and became a prominent Republican politician.

Update: I've made an entry for this other James H. Harris: James H. Harris (NC politician). Awbeal (talk) 14:53, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
