Jamey Jasta (born James Shanahan on August 7, 1978)[citation needed] is an American musician from West Haven, Connecticut, best known as the lead vocalist of the hardcore band Hatebreed.

[edit] History

Jasta's first band, Jasta 14 (where he picked up the moniker), formed in 1991 and eventually broke up in 1996.

Jasta's current band, Hatebreed, released their breakthrough album Satisfaction Is the Death of Desire on November 11, 1997. Hatebreed remains a prominent hardcore band today, releasing their most recent record, Supremacy, on August 29, 2006.

Along with Hatebreed, Jasta is the frontman of the side projects Kingdom of Sorrow and Icepick.

In 2003, Jasta became the full-time host of Headbanger's Ball on MTV2. However, in recent months, the show has solely focused on music videos, and Jasta has not appeared for quite some time.

Jasta also owns Stillborn Records, a hardcore and metal-based record label from West Haven.
