James William Lewis (born 8 August 1946) is a convicted extortionist in relation to the 1982 Tylenol scare. He sent a letter to Johnson & Johnson demanding $1 million to stop the cyanide-induced murders. It was determined that he had nothing to do with the crimes as he and his wife were living in New York City at the time. He served 13 years of a 20-year sentence and was released in 1995 on parole.
