[edit] Early life and academics

Tausz attended Sioux Falls College, where he earned a BA degree and South Dakota State University, where he earned an MS degree.

[edit] Contributions

Tausz is known as the founder of "Trend Timing," and also wrote a book entitled, "Should I Incorporate?" His timing strategies are still used today at the Bradford Financial Center. Much of today's model for what a financial advisor is stemmed from IDS, which later became known as American Express, and then Ameriprise. At IDS, Tausz was a top-ranked broker and served as the basis of inspiration for the company's model of "Financial Planning for a Fee," which company VP Vint Lewis popularized by training thousands of IDS stock brokers. Today, the concept of a "Financial Advisor" is nearly an industry standard. Before the IDS model, almost all stock brokers worked on commissions only. Tausz has spoken, by invitation, to share his insights in Washington DC on matters of tax law reform.

[edit] Recognition

He is a Certified Financial Planner, Certified Estate Advisor, and has been recognized by the Business Advisory Council as "Businessman of the Year" and the consumer's Research Council of America as one of "America's Best Financial Planners". In addition James has been named by Global Register's "Who's Who" publications of Executives and Professionals as a V.I.P. professional.

[edit] Personal life

James has been married to his wife Judy since 1966. They have three children and six grandchildren. They spend much time at their second home in Branson, Missouri, but Tausz continues to enjoy working at the Bradford.
