James Sheldon Trayer

James Sheldon Trayer (??? - 1937) was an officer in the US Navy from 1901 to 1931.

As Chief Quartermaster was the first company commander to graduate a group of recruits from the Great Lakes Recruit Training Command on Oct 28, 1911.

Awarded the Navy Cross for many rescues during the winter of 1917-1918 in the North Atlantic.

A training facility at the Great Lakes Recruit Training Command is named in his honor.
