James Pomerantz is a senior sitar disciple of Ali Akbar Khan of the Baba Allauddin Maihar gharana. Mr. Pomerantz has studied Sitar for 35 years under the instruction of Ali Akbar Khan at the Ali Akbar College of Music in San Rafael, California. Mr. Pomerantz has also had the benefit of studying sitar under the late maestro Nikhil Banerjee and carries on the Maihar tradition. He has accompanied his guru on sitar throughout USA, Europe and India. He resides in Fairfax, California, where he teaches and performs.
