James Sarsfield Mitchell (January 30, 1864 – July 3, 1921) was an American athlete who competed in the 1904 Summer Olympics.
He competed for the United States in the 1904 Summer Olympics held in St Louis, United States in the 56 lb weight throw where he won the bronze medal. In the hammer throw competition he finished fifth and in the discus throw event he finished sixth.
